Which Pillow Style Fits Your Size?
Pillow dimensions are only part of the decision. Compare different constructions to find the right style for your artwork and setup.

01 / Shaped construction
Split Leg Body Pillow
Separated-leg design
A separated-leg shape needs a matching shaped insert. A 50×150 cm reference describes the outer footprint, not a rectangular printable area. Keep the leg split in mind when arranging artwork.

02 / Two layers · four sides
Double Layer Dakimakura
Hidden zipper construction
Two artwork layers use a hidden zipper and can offer four printed sides. Confirm the chosen size, layer templates and matching inner before preparing your artwork.

03 / Full-length structure
Full Body Pillow With Hole
Center opening
A full-length format with a center opening needs a compatible cover and insert. Confirm size and opening position together; the 50×150 cm example is a reference, not a promise for every listing.

04 / Compact structure
Half Body Pillow With Hole
Bottom opening
The compact 40×60 cm format focuses on upper-body artwork and uses a bottom opening. Match the cover to the correct inner and check the printable area.

05 / Special construction
3D Latex Onahole Butt Pillow
A 3D latex pillow uses a molded three-dimensional core rather than a conventional flat body pillow insert. Its shape, cover pattern, and product dimensions follow the specific mold design.
Standard dakimakura dimensions should not be used as a substitute for the actual molded measurements. Review the product specifications and available cover options before ordering.

Dakimakura Size FAQs
Still deciding which anime body pillow size is right for you? Find clear answers about dimensions, artwork requirements, pillow inserts, and custom options.
What is the standard dakimakura size?
There is no single universal dakimakura size. Common full-length formats include 50×150 cm (19.7×59.1 inches) and 50×160 cm (19.7×63.0 inches). Both are suitable for full-body anime artwork. Always check the exact dimensions of your pillow cover and insert before ordering.
Is a 150 cm or 160 cm dakimakura better?
Neither length is better for every design. Both formats are 50 cm wide. A 50×160 cm pillow adds 10 cm of length, which can help taller character illustrations and leave more room around the head and feet.
Choose 50×150 cm for a familiar full-length size, or 50×160 cm when the artwork needs that extra height. The cover and the inner pillow still have to be the same length. Compare the sizes side by side.
What size is a half-body pillow?
The half-body size on this guide is 40×60 cm (15.7×23.6 inches). It is meant for artwork focused on a character’s face, shoulders, and upper body, and it is easier to place on a sofa or a smaller bed.
It is not a replacement for a full-length dakimakura. See half body pillows.
Is 40×120 cm big enough for a full character?
40×120 cm (15.7×47.2 inches) is a slimmer, shorter long pillow. It has more vertical room than a 40×60 cm half-body pillow and less room than a 50×150 cm dakimakura.
A full character can fit only when the illustration is composed for that narrow area. Details close to the edges may need to move inward. Review every size before you prepare the artwork.
Is a 60×180 cm pillow too large?
60×180 cm (23.6×70.9 inches) is an oversized format, with more width and height than a 50×150 cm pillow. It is a practical choice when you have the bed space, storage room, and a high-resolution source image.
It is more pillow than many rooms need for a first dakimakura. Confirm that the construction and a matching inner pillow are available in this size.
Can I use a 150 cm cover on a 160 cm pillow inner?
No. Those pieces differ by 10 cm in length, so the cover will not fit the longer inner pillow correctly. Use a cover and an inner pillow that share the same dimensions and the same construction.
A rectangular insert also will not fit a split-leg pillow or a pillow with an opening. Check the construction guide before you pair a cover with an insert.
Do split-leg pillows use the same size system?
A listed size such as 50×150 cm describes the outer footprint, not a plain rectangle. The separated legs change where the artwork sits, and the inner pillow has to follow that shape.
Do not assume a rectangular insert of the same length will fit. View split leg body pillows.
Does the pillow size include the pillowcase only?
The sizes on this page are the finished dimensions to match. They are not an extra margin added around the cover. If the cover and the inner pillow are purchased separately, both should use the same size and construction.
Check the product page to see whether that listing includes the cover, the insert, or both.
What artwork resolution do I need?
Use a high-resolution vertical image, and keep faces and other important details away from the edges, openings, and leg gaps. Each construction has its own printable area.
This page does not set one minimum DPI for every product. Follow the artwork notes on the product you select.
Can I order a custom anime body pillow size?
Custom pillow options follow the constructions on this site. A custom order still needs a supported size and a matching insert, so the available dimensions depend on the style you choose.
Explore custom pillow options and confirm the construction before you prepare the artwork.
