The Basics / Pillow Construction

What Makes an Onahole Pillow Different?

Not all anime body pillows are built the same. The biggest differences are found in their shape, construction, and accessory compatibility.

Understanding the Difference

A standard dakimakura usually focuses on a long rectangular pillow shape and printed anime artwork. Specialized onahole pillow designs introduce additional construction features, such as separated legs, center or bottom openings, concealed layers, or molded forms. Each design offers a different combination of size, structure, and customization options.

Please note: Not every style has an accessory opening. Double Layer refers primarily to its two printed layers and concealed zipper construction; it does not automatically include an accessory opening. Split Leg construction also varies by product. Always check the individual product specifications.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

New to Onahole Pillows? Learn about different constructions, openings, pillow inserts, customization and everyday care.

What is an Onahole Pillow?

An Onahole Pillow is a specialized category of anime body pillows that may feature alternative shapes, layered constructions, specially positioned openings or molded components. The exact design and available features vary by pillow type.

How is an Onahole Pillow different from a regular dakimakura?

A regular dakimakura usually has a long rectangular shape with printed character artwork on the front and back. Specialized onahole pillow styles may add separated legs, additional printed layers, center or bottom openings, or a molded three-dimensional form. These features depend on the selected design.

Do all Onahole Pillows have an opening?

No. Not every style has an accessory opening. Double Layer refers to an additional artwork layer accessed through a concealed zipper; that zipper is not the same as an accessory opening. A split-leg shape also does not automatically mean the pillow has an opening. Always check the individual product specifications.

What is a Split Leg Body Pillow?

A Split Leg Body Pillow has two separated lower sections instead of a conventional rectangular lower half. A matching split-leg inner helps support that shape. Seams, openings and compatible components vary by model. See our Split Leg Body Pillows for available designs.

What is a Double Layer Dakimakura?

A Double Layer Dakimakura has an outer printed layer and a hidden inner printed layer, revealed by a special zipper construction. Depending on the product, the two layers can provide four artwork sides. This layered construction does not itself imply an accessory opening. Explore the Double Layer Dakimakura collection and check each listing's artwork requirements.

What is the difference between Full Body and Half Body Pillows With Hole?

A Full Body Pillow With Hole combines a full-length dakimakura shape with a center opening. A Half Body Pillow With Hole uses a more compact, upper-body format with a bottom opening. Examples in our range include 50 × 150 cm full-body designs and 40 × 60 cm half-body designs; available sizes and opening details depend on the specific product. Compare Full Body Pillows With Hole and Half Body Pillows With Hole.

What is a 3D Latex Onahole Butt Pillow?

A 3D Latex Onahole Butt Pillow uses a shaped, molded three-dimensional form rather than a conventional rectangular filled pillow. Its core, cover, dimensions and compatible components are model-specific and differ from standard dakimakura designs. Check the configurations in the 3D Latex Pillow collection.

Does an Onahole Pillow include the inner pillow?

Not always. A Cover Only option includes the printed cover, without an inner pillow unless the listing explicitly states otherwise. Other configurations may include or offer a matching inner. Specially shaped covers may need a corresponding insert, so check the selected option, size and included components before ordering.

Can I customize my own Onahole Pillow?

Yes. Choose from the constructions, sizes, fabrics and options available for the selected product, then upload artwork for its required printable sides. Layered and specially shaped covers can have different artwork requirements. Start on the Custom Onahole Pillow page to see the available options and prepare your design.

How do I clean and store an Onahole Pillow?

Remove the cover and follow its fabric care label. The cover and inner should be cared for separately: PP cotton, inflatable inserts and molded latex components can require different cleaning methods. Let each component dry completely before reassembling or storing it, and follow its storage instructions. Read the Dakimakura Washing & Care Guide for cover and insert-specific guidance.
